COMFORTABLE VOLUME= telephone ringing, falling water from a man-made fountain
LOUD = loud music from a stereo,traffic along a busy road
VERY LOUD= drilling noise from a construction site, a fighter jet flying past.

They are unwanted sounds which can annoy and affect our quality of life.

! people are unable to concentrate on their work or study,resulting in poor performance at work or in school.
2a) use ear phones when listening to music : yes : unpleasant noises are kept out when we listen to music.
close the doors and windows : yes : closing doors and windows can keep out noise from outside because they act as sound barriers;noise is further reduced if the doors are covered by sound-proofing materials or it the window panes are thick.
increase the volume of the radio or television: no:the environment becomes noisier.We affect others negatively too by creating more noise.
